A wide range of toys and games is always available in the toy cupboards under the Welsh Dresser, with games in the corner cupboard opposite. There are far too many to put out all at once. When children are coming, and we know their ages, we can vary the selection to suit.
There are literally hundreds of children’s books on the lower shelves of the bookcases, to suit all ages. Alternatively, all children can watch TV in their bedrooms for as long as their parents will allow.
Probably more to be recommended, is the memorial park just a couple of minutes’ walk down the ‘Jitty’ (Derbyshire dialect for ‘footpath’) from the house. The park contains a water play area which all children seem to love.
For parents with infants or toddlers, a full size wooden cot is available as is a wooden high chair. Both of these fully meet current safety standards. There is no additional charge for either, but they do have to be requested in advance. For smaller children, there are nursery plates, bowls, drinking vessels and cutlery available in the dining room dresser.
Hinged baby gates are fitted at the top and bottom of both staircases.
